FAQs

Do I need a full bladder?

If you are coming for a Gender Scan or an Early Pregnancy Scan and you are 19 weeks pregnant or less than you DO need a full bladder. If you are attending the clinic for a 4D scan, then you do NOT need a full bladder.

What should I bring with me?

On the day of the scan you do not need to bring anything with you. If you are coming for a Gender Scan or an Early Pregnancy Scan, all you will need is a full bladder. We do not need to see any hospital notes.

Can I use this scan in place of a hospital scan?

No. Peek A Baby offers you the scan with the understanding that you are receiving the appropriate ante-natal care and have had a normal hospital scan. Under no circumstances should a Peek A Baby scan be used in place of your hospital ultrasound scan.

Do I need to do anything in preparation for the scan?

Unfortunately baby has a mind of its own and neither you nor us have control over them. The best advice we can offer to is to have something sugary, like a drink or chocolate maybe 10 to 20 minutes before you come and also bring a cold drink along with you. Also, if mum can try and stay as relaxed as possible prior to and during the scan, we have noticed that a nice, happy, relaxed mum allows for a well behaved baby. In addition, drink plenty of water. If you don't normally drink water daily you should consider doing so beginning at least 5 days before your scheduled appointment. Hydration can significantly improve the clarity of an ultrasound. We will try our best to get the best images of baby possible but please bear in mind that 4D imaging is largely dependent on the position of baby and as such we cannot guarantee full face images.
