NIPT Tests West Midlands

Peek A Baby West Midlands have launched their NIPT Testing!

All Non-Invasive Prenatal Tests are now available at both Bromsgrove and Birmingham clinics, giving the opportunity to find out more about you and your baby’s genetics.

Explaining Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing

Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT) covers a wide range of blood test or Buccal Swab tests that give insight into your genetics. Whether you are in the family planning stage of life or you are already on your pregnancy journey, NIPT tests can give you insight into you and your baby’s genetics.

The sample taken, whether via Buccal Swab or blood test can be used to determine fetal DNA. This DNA can then used to determine the genetics of your baby and the likelihood of them being born with a genetic condition. All results are sent directly to your GP following the test.

What Are The Benefits to Prenatal Genetic Testing?

If you have a history of genetic conditions in your family, you may be more inclined to explore your genetics before having a family. Prenatal genetic testing will allow you to find out whether you are a carrier of these historic family conditions.

If you are found to be a carrier of these genetic conditions, this will give you more opportunity to plan your family or decide against this decision. If you are already pregnant, this test can give you an insight in to how likely your baby is to be born with a genetic condition.

Some genetic conditions can have a significant impact on the quality of life and will require more care once born. Having these genetic answers can be a big help in planning for your baby’s arrival if you are already along your pregnancy journey.
